Your requirements for the different components may be unique. Following are the main components of home theaters.

The source of audio and video (DVD player, audio CD player, AM-FM tuner, Cable/Satellite TV) The video display unit (TV or projector and giant screen) The audio ‘display’ unit – that’s the speakers The audio processing unit – that’s an amp Accessories

The sounds – loud speakers, floor mounted or wall mounted? Wired or wireless? How about the surround sound speakers? 5.1 or 7.1 system? See what I mean? Plenty of options to choose from.

The amplifier – this can be either a pre-amp, multi-channel or one with a built in Tuner. The choice is yours.

Accessories – What I mean by accessories is things like furniture, entertainment center, universal remote controller, connecting cables and wires and the whatnot.

High End Home Theaters – Invite the Magic of the Movie Theater in Your Living Room

When Suzi and Pat got together everybody said they made the perfect couple – but within a year they split up! The reason seemed to be silly to most of us, but for Suzi it was serious enough for break up.

Suzi was a movie buff, when Pat always loathed taking her to the movie theater simply because he just hated the spiraling lines at the ticket counter and the crowd at the theater.

Even if the matter is not as serious as Suzi and Pat between you and your significant other, still a home theater can make a world of difference in your lives. With a high-end home theater installed in the corner of your living room, true cinematic experience is just a matter of pressing the button of your remote and the entire Hollywood is right there with all their hustle and bustle inside your living room!

What is home theater?

A home theater system can be defined as a wonder gadget that turns your drawing room into a make shift movie theater. With today’s high-end home theater systems, it is possible to experience all the same effects as the movie theater. All these are made possible through the combined effects strung together by a litany of system components, namely the television, preferably with a large screen, a DVD player, the home theater receiver, surround system and tonally matched speakers and a subwoofer.

Features of the high-end systems:

Onkyo SKS-HT540 7.1 Channel Home Theater Speaker System – A Review

The Onkyo SKS-HT540 7.1 Channel Home Theater Speaker System consists of eight (yes eight!) speakers. It has 7 discreet audio channels to closely replicate the audio quality that you experience in cinemas. The most important speaker in this set is the center channel speaker. It should always be placed on top of your TV or in a place that is directly in front of you. To achieve the best effect, the other 8 speakers should be placed in the locations that are recommended by the manufacturers (which I did).

One of the factors that make this sound system a winner is its price. Currently (at the time of writing), it costs just a little below $300. It is quite a good bargain considering the size of the system and the audio quality it produces.

I am an avid gamer so most of use of the Onkyo SKS-HT540 7.1 Channel Home Theater Speaker System was during game-play. I play a lot of action packed games (with lots of gunfire, explosions and crashes) and the sounds produced by these speakers were amazing. The audio quality was very similar to a cinema’s sound system and the bass produced by the sub-woofers were just mind-boggling. There were very little distortion or ‘breaks’ in the sound, even in high volume. The sound from movies and games were great, but music playback (from mp3s and CDs) for some reason was merely acceptable at best. Setting up the system was relatively easy and overall, the Onkyo SKS-HT540 7.1 Channel Home Theater Speaker System is a pretty good system for its price.

Yamaha YHT 591BL – Home Theater in a Box

Here is a great piece of home theater equipment that makes your viewing experience so real you will never want to go to the cinema again. Everything needed for getting a complete home theater started will be found in these neat all-in-one packages. Just choose the model that suits your needs and your away.

It is equipped with 5 all powerful 105W speakers and a 100W subwoofer. When set up correctly the Yamaha YHT-591BL sounds utterly amazing with its clean and crisp bass that is genuinely built for the medium sized home theatre experience.

By placing the speakers throughout the room, you get the cinema-like sound from a small, easy to install unit that is compatible with the optional Bluetooth Wireless Audio Receiver and iPod Universal Dock. It’s equipped with four HDMI inputs and one output that support all HD formats so you are able to hook up multiple HDMI compatible devices and take joy in the high-def display.

The speakers included in this Yamaha home theater in a box system are very impressive for the price range package they are in. This was one of the first HTIBs to boast HD sound and it works flawlessly. The surround sound is clearer, richer and more realistic with Yamaha’s advanced CINEMA DSP, and the YPAO Automatic System Calibration. It will automatically adjust to the best sound for the room, irrespective of where the speakers are situated.

The convenient SCENE buttons allow you to set up multiple functions for BD, DVD and TV viewing, CD and radio listening. At the press of the button a number of preset operations occur, automatically playing the source of your choice in the manner of your choice.

There are a few minor cons to the YHT-591BL such as the rear speakers are fairly long at ten inches, the remote control looks rather old-hat and no AC pass through.

Therefore overall for the money this home theater system is definitely a good choice. The YHT-591 offers great HD ready features and benefits in a 5.1 channel system, including a 5-channel AV receive, three-way bass reflex speakers, two-way surrounds and a ten inch 100W advanced YST 2 subwoofer. It boasts a full array of HD audio decoders, comprising great functioning and value for home theater consumers also having YPAO for automatic speaker set up and sound optimization.

You get a lot more inputs/outputs on this receiver and if you don’t need or want a DVD player because you are thinking of upgrading to Blue Ray then the YHT-591BL is the one for you.

The Yamaha YHT-591BL is a perfect buy for the first-time home theater user who wants the best quality sound but doesn’t want to spend a huge amount of money.

Best Home Theater Systems – Guide to Choosing the Best Home Theater

There’s a misconception that exists in the world of entertainment which revolves around people looking for the best home theater systems.

The truth is, the best systems are those which suit people’s individual needs. It’s all a matter of what you want in a system and how much you’re prepared to spend.

Sure, you could go out and get a loan and spend five figures for a state-of-the-art system but in reality, it’s probably going to be a waste of money.

Best Home Theater Systems

In this article, we want to give you a guide to setting up home theater in your home and what it might cost you. There are a few variables to take into account. For example, you need to answer these questions:

- are you going to start from scratch? – do you just want to upgrade what you already have in place? – or are you planning to renovate your entertainment area?

If you are starting from scratch then are several alternatives. Today, big screen TVs are all the rage but look at the smaller screens before making a decision. A 27″-30″ television plus accessories such as DVD means you will need to begin with a budget of up to $1000.

However, if you already have a television and DVD player in place and are looking to upgrade to a better sound system, then your price reduces significantly. Purchasing a home theater in a box with the other components in place means you can budget for around $500 in expense.

Plasma Or LCD TVs

If you are looking to upgrade to either a plasma or LCD television then you need to make a couple of major decisions. Plasma has long been regarded as the ideal screen of choice because of it’s size but LCDs have quickly closed the gap and are now getting much bigger in size.

Either way, purchasing a large screen version in either plus accessories which may also include a vide projector set up and superior sound system, then your budget is going to balloon out to somewhere in the vicinity of $4000-$10,000.

Renovating Your Existing Room

Many enthusiasts start out by incorporating an existing area as part of their plans but when the budget allows, they tend to upgrade. This can mean renovating an existing room including taking a wall out or adding extra features.

Home renovations can be expensive and when you start altering the appearance of a room the cost can escalate. Budget for $10-$30,000 for this type of upgrade which may even include new furniture.

The benefit with this is adding extra value to your home but it is a commitment financially and avoid having to borrow money to complete this type of project.

So having the best home theater systems means more than simply going out and buying the most expensive units on the market – it comes down to what you really want and what will satisfy your needs.
